Things to Do in Chicago with Kids

0

Last week, my family spent a fun few days in Chicago. The Windy City did not disappoint! Here are a few things we enjoyed during our stay:

How to get there:

From Palm Beach International Airport (PBI), we flew into Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). Chicago Midway International Airport is another option (MDW).

Where to stay:

We rented an Airbnb, and it was a nice retreat for our family of four! It was also walking distance to a nice playground for the kids. There are many great hotels and vacation rentals available in Chicago!

Things to Do:

Golf

For golfers, The Glen Club is a premier destination. It was designed by Tom Fazio, and is located at the former site of the Glenview Naval Air Station. The first 18-hole golf course in America was built in Chicago, and The Glen Club continues this tradition, having been named a Top-100 Golf Course. It also offers dining and overnight accommodations.

Family Activities

The Shedd Aquarium is a top attraction in Chicago, and we had a great visit on our last trip!

This trip, I spent a great afternoon at the Kohler Children’s Museum with our kids (ages four and seven). The museum has interactive exhibits including a grocery store, water room, music room, model house to build, vet clinic, and more. Our kids loved it! It reopens to the general public on June 2, 2021, and you can make advance reservations on their website.

Places to Eat:

A visit to Chicago would not be complete without its famous deep dish pizza, and we enjoyed ours at Giordano’s! My family also has a tradition where we try a local donut shop at each place we visit, and this trip we tried Cumberland Bakery in Des Plaines, where the donuts are made fresh from scratch daily. Although we didn’t try it during this trip, I also heard Stan’s Donuts is a must-try!
