Where do you live in Palm Beach County?
I have lived in Palm Beach Gardens for the past 3 years! I love to say I work where I live!
What do you love about living in Palm Beach County?
From the pristine beaches, large array of locally owned restaurants, amazing dive spots filled with sea-life and some pretty amazing people! I compare it to La Jolla, California one of my favorite places!
What is your favorite activity to do in Palm Beach?
One- I have several! One of my favorite is Gardens Crossfit, working out alongside friends that have become family. We have such a great woman tribe there! Another one is paddle boarding which is a great way to decompress surrounded by our beautiful Palm Beach. Last is mountain biking at JD! It makes you feel like a kid again, zooming around those trails!
Do you have children (or fur children)?
I have two beautiful, healthy children.
If so, what are their names and ages?
My daughter Kodi, is going to be 22, is studying Biomed, swims for FAU and is an ocean rescue lifeguard for Palm Beach County. My son just turned 13! My little man Jonathan, he bikes with me, plays ice hockey and is a phenomenal fisherman!
What is your job description?
My job description is rescue lieutenant. I am a firefighter, paramedic as well as a fire instructor and have been in the fire service for 20 years this year. I have been with PBG for almost 17 1/2 years. I oversee all medical training at my station, proctor or train new personal, I am in charge of all medical calls, patient care and treatment, medical reports, following all guidelines, SOG’S and protocols that pertain to patient care. Providing kind customer service to our patients and ensuring they are cared for as though they were family. As a firefighter my job is to train in both fire and medical because we respond to both. We can run calls from a fire to a car accident to a gas leak to a medical call. In South Florida we are cross trained to do both fire and medical.
You were recently part of the first all-female fire crew in the history of the Palm Beach Gardens fire department. Tell us a little bit about what that experience means to you.
On September 19, 2020 we had an all female crew the first time in 57 years in our department! Every rank was filled by a female.. I was beyond thrilled to be a part of that day alongside that crew of such strong women. Not only was it a Friday made up of all female crew it was the day RBG passed away. A woman who stood for equality for everyone we were a representation of what she fought for that day.
What advice do you have for mothers who want to inspire others, including their children?
I would say keep charging towards your dream and don’t look back! Never lose sight of what your purpose is regardless of road blocks.
