Five Things to do in Palm Beach County with Kids

0

As school ends and summer arrives, we have no shortage of fun things to do with kids! There are many great family activities waiting right outside our doorstep. Here are five of my favorite fun options:

Palm Beach Zoo

The Palm Beach Zoo is in West Palm Beach, and features animals like tigers, macaws, and a white alligator. It is small enough to walk around, with leafy, shaded paths, and a central fountain where kids can play. For local moms, yearly memberships are affordable, and a great option for a weekday outing with kids! At the time of this post, a membership for one adult plus a guest is $89 annually, with kids under three free, and $159 for an annual family pass including two adults and all children in the household. The zoo also has fun seasonal activities like breakfast with the Easter bunny and an egg hunt, preschool classes with animal encounters, and summer camps. These are at an extra cost, and tickets sell out quickly!

Lion Country Safari

This drive-through zoo in Loxahatchee has been in operation for fifty years, and it is truly a unique and exciting experience. First, you drive through a safari park where the animals roam freely, seeing lions, ostriches, zebras, and other African wildlife. Next, there is a walk-through amusement park with more animals including a petting zoo, interactive bird feeding exhibit, and an area to feed giraffes, as well as miniature golf and a carousel. It is a special experience and not one to be missed!

Indoor Play Places

Indoor play places are great for a rainy afternoon!

Cox Science Center and Aquarium

The Science Center has served Palm Beach County since 1961, with their motto that science is exciting. Their mission to “Open Every Mind to Science” serves over 300,000 students, teachers, and visitors annually, including 130,000 through field trips and educational outreach.

The Cox Science Center and Aquarium is located at 4801 Dreher Trail North, West Palm Beach and is open Monday – Friday from 9am-5pm, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10am-6pm.  For more information, call 561-832-1988.

Wandering Trails Horseback Riding

Located in Palm Beach Gardens, this family-owned riding academy offers lessons and trail rides. Kids and adults alike will love the chance to ride a horse and interact with the animals up close. The nice weather this weekend will be a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy the beauty South Florida has to offer!
