The Airport You Choose DOES Matter

2

Once upon a time I almost had a heart attack thinking about airplane travel with a baby. After much research, and many trips to get over my fear, I’ve definitely realized it’s a lot less difficult than I made it out to be. But anyone who has traveled more than a few times with a baby can form preferences as to which airports are more baby-friendly.

As a Palm Beach mama, my first go to is Palm Beach International Airport. However, we’ve flown out of Fort Lauderdale and Orlando as our home base because of significant price differences with our infant. And through good and bad experiences, we’ve decided to stick to PBIA no matter the cost. Here’s why:

1) Wayyy Less Crowded.

I’ve been everywhere between grid locked in Chicago O’Hare and in a deserted airport in Monroe, LA wearing my girl in her Tula. PBIA has a very steady, maneuverable for a stroller, type pace. Which makes my heart happy.

2) Mamava.

These private nursing/pumping suites are available in almost all airports I’ve seen. You can find this treasure in Concourses B and C, at gates B1 and C1. Don’t panic because you don’t see Concourse A listed, only two airlines go through A: Bahamas Air and Silver Air. And if you’re going to the Bahamas for a tropical vacation then I have no sympathy for you…just kidding 😉 Back to the Mama Via– they are perfect for breastfeeding and pumping in private, and you can hear any updates over the speakers outside. They are equipped with power outlets and plenty of space. Want to know more about where these priceless treasures are located? Check them out here!

Trusty Mamava

3) Multiple places to get away to have baby get some energy out.

There are almost always empty terminals at PBIA, which is much needed for my daughter who wants to crawl/cruise everywhere. Using an empty terminal not your thing? There is a “Kids Zoo” in the main terminal.
4) Faster Lines.

With a putting green to kill time, it’s almost certain that you’re not going to be waiting very long for anything. This has given us time for accidents, diaper changes, and feedings before we settle in for the flight. Its no wonder our hometown airport is listed as one of the top ten best airports in our country by Conde Nast Traveler! (Check out that article here!)

If the price is right, maybe you can’t pass up some of our other south Florida airports. But sometimes, the laid back atmosphere is a priceless commodity, one we will always choose.

What are you favorite airports to fly out from on family vacations?
