Adding to Your Tribe

I’m a self-proclaimed creature of habit. I have the same stores I like to shop at. I have had the same type of tennis shoes for years, and eat a lot of the same food every day. I’m comfortable in my life. Well, I was!

This new school year has brought all new things! New school for one of my littles, new teachers for both big boys, and new parents for this mommy. Now, ever since I met my husband, almost all his friends had a significant other. So, luckily for me, I made friends with almost all of these women! And I’m so blessed to have them in my life!

But guess who I don’t get to see as often any more? My old friends. Only a handful of them have kids at the same school as mine/play sports with my kids. This has put this anxious introvert in quite a pickle. As I calmly told my 1st grader at his first day of school, “Have fun, be you, and you’ll make friends.” It was a lot easier for me to say this than to do it.

Being the brave boys that both of my school age boys are, they have made new friends! While they still gravitate to their comfort-zones (Luke will forever be attached to his best buddy, Patrick aka the Mayor), they have made new friends and I’m so grateful for this!

In the process, this momma has made new friends too! Yay me!! I, just like my boys, also have some social butterflies that have helped me along the way of coming out of my shell. I am forever grateful for these ladies! You have given me so much love, support, and understanding and it’s wonderul to see how much women support women!

I have met so many amazing new moms! The worrier, who like me will second guess a lot before we are okay with the answer. The active one who is always on the go and so cheerful. The one who has a hard time saying no to anything, but somehow gets it all done and is such a kick-butt lady! The oil fanatic who has helped me center myself more than I ever thought possible. The working momma who still finds the time to be there as much as possible for her kids! The prayer warrior, who with just her words can make me smile!

To all these woman, thank you for being a part of my new every day! Thank you for loving my kids and for all the laughter each and every day!! I’ve grown my tribe of mommas and am forever grateful for the social butterflies I have followed to help me on my journey!  So get out of your comfort zone and introduce yourself to someone new!  You never know who will be the next member of your tribe!
