After the events at our Nation’s capital last night, a lot of us moms are wondering: what can we do? My suggestion is to do one small thing, that will add up to making a big difference. Share a story. Here is ours:

Hi! Christen here. Meg and I are co-owners of Palm Beach Mom Collective, and our goal on this little space is to empower, equip, and connect our fellow Palm Beach Moms. A little bit about us:

Christen – went to law school, born in Boston, raised in New Hampshire and South Florida. Married to Nick, professional golfer who has played for the past 15 years on the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour. Nick is a fourth generation Floridian. He is the logic to my passion, the strength to my softness, the athlete to this book and theater lover. We both attended high school at Marjory Stoneman Douglas in Parkland. We have two children, and we have lived in Palm Beach Gardens since 2012.

We started a nonprofit this year and became a local affiliate for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The Palm Beach County Imagination Library opened in 2020. What is the Imagination Library?

-A free book gifting program for children under age five that mails one free, high quality book per month to each child enrolled, from birth through their fifth birthday, at no cost to the family.

Where is it open?

-The Palm Beach County Imagination Library is currently enrolling all children under age five who live in zip codes 33430, 33438, 33476, and 33493. We are starting with the lowest income, highest risk zip codes in Palm Beach County, and adding new zip codes as we meet our fundraising goals.

How can you help?

-The Palm Beach County Imagination Library is supported by the donations of generous community members. We are lucky to live in this beautiful seaside paradise called Palm Beach County, and our hope is that every child who lives here has access to books and is read to before entering Kindergarten.

-A donation of $2 buys one book, and a donation of $25 buys books for one child, for one year. Donate here: www.thompsonfoundationfl.com

-Attend our events! The Run for Reading Virtual 5k is on Saturday, March 13, 2021. We are still seeking sponsors and event partners – please feel free to reach out to learn more about this opportunity! Register here: runsignup.com/Race/FL/PalmBeachGardens/imaginationlibrary5k

-This Sunday, January 10, 2021, the Palm Beach County Imagination Library will have our first in-person story time, at Downtown at the Gardens. The event is limited to the first 50 attendees. We are helping to celebrate the launch of a Little Free Library box at Downtown at the Gardens, donated by our fellow Palm Beach Moms resource, the PB Moms!
